| Bertrand
Danglade was born with one foot on a ship’s deck. He
has spent his entire working life in this field, starting
on the banks of the Clyde in Scotland, the birthplace of so
many legendary sailing ships, where he acquired a solid foundation
for his passion by learning all about wood, and absorbed the
aesthetics and refinement of boats and an understanding of
hull proportions and shapes.
As he continued to sail, he set up a shipyard, the Chantier
naval de l'île de Ré, to sell, outfit, restore
and maintain all types of boats, especially the little Marennes
trawlers that embody the charm of the ports along the French
Atlantic coast.
RHEA MARINE was born in 1996, at the insistence of Bertrand
Danglade’s many customers and friends who often said
to him, "Bertrand, build us a boat just for us."
Just a few months later, the first of many Rhéas came
off the slip:
it's a boat for us... only
better! |
